Guilty until Supported

Audio Play, 45 minutes
Dystopian Courtroom drama, but presented from the backstage of the events
Eight cast members: Marek, Advocate, Piotr, Susanna, Ricky, Ricky's Mother, Kasia, Noemie.
Two accoustic environments: the antechamber and the corridor outside.
In this future society, individuals are reduced to mere commodities, their organs harvested for spare parts if they transgress the law. The judicial system, devoid of traditional checks and balances, operates on a unique process of peer review and community support. This means that the community, represented by a jury, reviews the case and decides the fate of the accused. The punishment for a crime is to become an organ donor in prison, a fate that can be swift or agonizingly slow. If the jury finds you guilty, anyone who dares to support you will face the same grim consequences. There is no recourse, no appeal.

Marek, a successful student, stands on trial for an apparently grave offence. Unless at least one person steps forward to support him, he is automatically judged guilty. As his friends and family members visit and leave the court antechamber, this fate becomes more and more uncertain.
